EPA says Greenhouse Gases Endanger Human Health

Re: Blog for now

WASHINGTON – The Environmental Protection Agency took a major step Monday toward regulating greenhouse gases, concluding that climate changing pollution threatens the public health and the environment.

The announcement came as the Obama administration looked to boost its arguments at an international climate conference that the United States is aggressively taking actions to combat global warming, even though Congress has yet to act on climate legislation. The conference opened Monday in Copenhagen.

The EPA said that the scientific evidence surrounding climate change clearly shows that greenhouse gases "threaten the public health and welfare of the American people" and that the pollutants — mainly carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels — should be regulated under the Clean Air Act.

"These long-overdue findings cement 2009's place in history as the year when the United States government began addressing the challenge of greenhouse-gas pollution," said EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson at news conference.

Just in time for the arrival of "the ONE" at the Climate Change Circus in Copenhagen, the EPA makes their sudden revelation. Do you think it was coincidental, or was it to make "the ONE" look good in front of the gathering of clowns in Copenhagen? Certainly it strokes his ego and causes him to "diddy-bop" even more as he takes the platform. The other clowns are thinking, “Why, certainly ... the new king of the world.” And from all indications that is the post the Chief Clown has been campaigning for since day one.

I wrote on another blog some months ago that "the ONE" would use the EPA Regulations already in place in order to get all the attention at the CCC and to bypass any debate in Congress on how much money it would cost to perform this unnecessary task or how much taxes you and I and industry would be paying in the future. It's called taxation without representation and that folks is not Constitutional. We fought a much-needed war over that issue at one time and it appears that we may need to have another one to stop this spread of European Marxism. Using the EPA sure beats the fight "the ONE" would have in passing "cap and trade," or as it is better known crap and tax. I heard a small business owner speak today that he is now paying over $10K a month for cooling his business, and that, given the rough estimates so far, he would be paying at least $20K or more when the ridiculous EPA regulations are set into play. His final remark was, “Yes, unfortunately, the cost will be passed on to my customers.” Not only can EPA regulations control what type of heating and cooling you will use, but they can also tell you what your thermostat will be set on. Can you imagine working in a place with the thermostat set on 85 degrees (F) instead of 75 degrees?

All I can say, folks, is bend over and grab your ankles because this is going to be rammed through the back door.

I can only hope the class of idiots who voted for the Chief Clown will be happy with paying out the wahzoo for heat, cooling, lights, and all other energy they consume. I am sure that this is not part of the "Change" they hoped for. I may suffer, but I will suffer less knowing that I voted for the other guy.

Ticker,

Cap & Trade legislation was DOA and now the end run.

Many of us, including you, saw this comming. I am anxious to hear what Sen, James Inhofe has to say. I think it will spark a blacklash like this country has not seen in a long time.

May the fleas of a thousand camels inhabit all of their crotches and may their arms be too short to scratch.

Seriously, though many are already experiencing buyers remorse, it is much too little, much too late.

I think I'll start trying to corner the market on flea powder.

GM, you know how a dog takes care of the problem since they can't scratch their crotch with their legs. Imagine Reid and Obummber doing this. Or better yet Barney Fwank. Oh wouldn't he love it. hahaha.

It does not take much to understand the costs associated with cutting the carbon footprint. Not only will we pay more for energy, people will lose their jobs because businesses will have to compensate for added costs (thank you Mr. BO) and they have to compensate (cut costs and that's jobs). There is a ripple effect of the EPA plan and the Clean Air Act that will never be reported because it's complex for the lamestream media, but it will cost more that just the price of electricity.

The Bush Administration people at U.S. DOT (NHTSA) fought an ongoing battle with their counterparts at EPA over C.A.F.E. standards. When EPA demands and forces higher mpg on the auto industry, national fuel consumption will drop. This will result in a drop in U.S. gas tax revenue to pay the costs of building and fixing our highways. The states' gas tax revenue will drop. To keep up infrastructure repairs (which are way behind schedule), gas taxes will have to rise. While the previous administration gave attention to a balance on mpg under C.A.F.E. the current crowd is moving forward like a bull in a china shop and the states are not paying attention or rolling over and playing dead.

One could argue that if consumption of gas drops, the price will drop. True, but only for a short time because the oil sheiks and other oil countries will not sell their crude at fire-sale prices. They will reduce production and all of us will be paying even more for gas and heating oil and until we give investors incentives to drill and uncap existing wells in this country, O.P.E.C. will continue to have us over a barrel, as it were.

The other big costs to society when EPA demands higher mpg is that the auto industry will have to build lighter vehicles and as a result, the crash worthiness will decease. Translate that into more injuries to motorists, which will tax our healthcare system even more than it is today.

And, when I think about the scam perpetuated by the Cash for Clunkers, it makes my blood boil. It did nothing to cut our carbon footprint and trashed MANY road worthy vehicles that could have been used by families that needed a good vehicle, even though the vehicles had age and mileage.

Sorry for the run-on here. Adrenalin.
