NEVER FORGET, My Veterans Day Memorial

The day set aside for Remembrance of our Veterans is fast approaching and I want to get this posted so that others will have time to pass it on  and/or just reflect on it. This is a special song done by the Oak Ridge Boys. Some of you may have heard it, others not but it is very suitable for this time in our history.
Many of our older Vets from WW2 have already passed on and more die each and every day. Those who served in Korea find their ranks thinning each year. And now those of us who served in Viet Nam are finding our ranks thinning as well. They are gone but not forgotten.

Listen to the song and if your eyes are dry at the end perhaps you need to ask yourself why. (Some say the link does not work but this one should do it)   http://silverandgoldandthee.net/V/Lil.html

Below I have listed Family and some special friends who have served and I offer a salute to them. The list is also for those who paid the full price on that "blank check" they signed upon entering the Armed Forces of this country.

To those who served this country, I salute you.

To my Uncle D.P.,(Deceased) North Africa campaign, Sicily, Italy Campaign, Invasion of Normandy, captured at Argonne Forest (Battle of the Bulge)  and spent the rest of the war as a POW. He was released in 1945, after the war was over. I salute you!
To my former Father in law, now deceased, Milton (Mutt) Boaz) 101st Airborne, Invasion of Normandy,  captured at the Battle of the Bulge. and was POW for over 6 months.  I salute you!
To deceased Father in law,  Rudy Mathis who was at the Battle of the Bulge as well as the Invasion of Normandy recipient of the Bronze Star.  I salute you.
To my Dad, Ross T. Williams, now deceased 70th Coastal Artillery, Pacific, I salute you.

To those of my high school class and friends as well as my college class who paid the ultimate sacrifice I salute you.  (These listed are but a few)

Ticker, thanks for posting this. We can never honor the veterans enough. I'm grateful my dad survived 3 shooting wars (32 years active duty) and though both my middle brother and I served, we didn't have to experience the horrors of combat. To those that did, God bless you and take from you the bad memories.

Thanks GM I hope the link worked for you. I have added another link just in case. The song is too good to just let it pass.

Nice post. As to the Oak Ridge Boys, you used to see them on TV quite a bit, but I had almost forgotten about them it has been so long.

Debbie, I found it to be a very moving song and Joe did one heck of a job getting through it.
