Conversations on this and that. A place to gather and civilly (politely, courteously) discuss current events, happenings, or just fun things to laugh about. You have the right to your own opinion, but remember ... so does everyone else. Those with nothing to add to the conversation will not be warmly welcomed.
There are many times when we feel that the world is falling apart before our very eyes. We feel that our friends have deserted us, leaving us to face times of turmoil , hurt, fear alone. We search for a place of solitude, a place of safety, a place of healing and we just don't seem to be able to find it. We ask what is worse than being totally alone? But there is an answer for there is a place "Where No One Stands Alone".
If what was described in the paragraph above is you or someone you know, may this song be an answer to your cry.
"Where No One Stands Alone" By The Gaither Vocal Band
Ever ask yourself "why do I bother to go to church" or if you are not a church goer have you ever wondered why folks do go to church regularly?
My good friend and fellow classmate, John Jones, from a time back when such things were not asked or discussed because going to church was just as natural as going to work, posted this on his Face Book page and I "borrowed" it from him.
It certainly does pose a question for many. What do you think?
Why Go To Church
Some Christians have a hard time regularly attending church for a variety of reasons, but with the right pastor and the right place that makes you comfortable, your relationship with God will benefit immensely. Here's a great story about the importance of church :)
A churchgoer wrote a letter to the editor of the newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church ever...y Sunday. I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can't remember a single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."
This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.
It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
Faith sees the invisible, Believes the incredible and Receives the impossible.
Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment.
"When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind". Florida Boys
This is not your typical Easter Song but when I heard the words I could only think , I sure am glad.
For those who have not come to that realization it is as simple as ABC.
Admit that you are a sinner, the one Christ died for and the one He had on His mind. For all have sinner and come short of the glory of God. Believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God and that He indeed died for you. For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes on him will not perish but have eternal life. Confess that you believe. For withthe heart man believeth unto righteousness; and withthemouthconfessionismade unto salvation.
Father, I know that I am a sinner and ask that you forgive me of my sins. I ask you to be the Lord of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you followed those steps and prayed that simple prayer then you can enjoy the rest of the story.
Of course the cross was not the end of the story because He was buried and rose again on the third day, the day we celebrate as Easter. The stone was rolled away and He came out of the tomb and then appeared unto his followers. What wonderful news that was to them and what wonderful news it is to us, but that is not the end of the story.
The scripture has this to say about the rest of the story:
Acts 1:10-12 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Now that is the full story but by no means the end. For those who believe it will only be the beginning.
We are including another song that tells of His return. You can use this link to listen and enjoy the song.
