I stealing the top photo... and the bottom one doesn't come near to detailing the present I think...

Outstanding Ticker, outstanding..

I liked the bottom one because of the two figures standing on the sidelines. They say it all. Of course the same caliber of people are in the wagon doing the same thing over and over again just like in 34 and expecting different results. Last time I heard that was stupid but then....

If you will click on "Remember the adage" it will enlarge the picture and you can see the comments of the two individuals on the sidelines. I was not aware of this until just moments ago and I accidentally clicked on it to see if it were a link to something I had missed posting.

FDR was the reddest President America ever had -- until BHO came along.

Ticker,

I am AMAZED at that last comic!!! WOW! History really does repeat itself. Jim and I were flabbergasted at how much like what is going on today was shown back in '34. Who was in power then? I guess I will google it...

Also, wanted to thank you for the link to the conservative movie reviewer that you know. I will definitely check that out. I know you aren't much of a "movie person", but you ought to try watching, "V for Vendetta". Pretty interesting.

PS...do I have your permission to use those pics?

Sue, FDR was the POTUS the others on the "wagon" were Wallace, Ickes and Richberg and Tugwell Head driving the team.
Head became the head of the Resettlement Administration, a federal agency that relocated the urban poor to the suburbs and impoverished farmers to new rural communities. In 1936, when the RA came under political fire for being overly utopian and socialistic, he resigned from his position in the administration.

Henry Wallace Secretary of Agriculture in his Cabinet, a post his fatherhad occupied in the 1920's. Wallace had been a liberal Republican, but he supported Roosevelt’s New Deal and soon switched to the Democratic Party. During his tenure as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture he ordered a very unpopular strategy of slaughtering pigs and plowing up cotton fields in rural America to drive the price of these commodities back up in order to improve American farmers financial situation. The next step was to pay them not to grow to keep the price up.
Ickes was head of WPA. His support of PWA power plants put increased financial pressure on private power companies during the Great Depression.

Donald Richberg was head of the National Recovery Act which was symbolized by the blue eagle. It was popular with workers, especially union workers. Businesses that supported the NRA put the symbol in their shop windows and on their packages. Though membership to the NRA was voluntary, businesses that did not display the eagle were very often boycotted–making it seem to many mandatory for survival.

If all of this sounds familiar it should. "The One" is doing the same thing and the same disastrous results will be seen.

Yes, by all means use these pictures. The cartoon has been blogged on by several as far back as May and perhaps earlier.
The "coming storm" is fairly new I think.

Leslie, so it seems and that was my thinking as well. I saw no need for words, just the picture. What is the saying? A picture is worth a thousand words. In this case it speaks volumes.

Yep AOW, spot on. We are seeing dejavue all over again! Unfortunately the results will be a bigger disaster than the Depression and the socialism that came out of that era under the tutelage of FDR.

The Lord knows how to calm the storms. The question is, will this storm be calmed?

Ticker said...

Bryan, I believe this one will wash over this land like nothing we have seen before but after the storm there will be a time of healing and restoration for this country and we will see one rise that will lead this country and it's people back onto the path of righteousness.

Ticker,

Great post! How do I copy the first image to my blog (with appropriate credit and a link to this post, of course)?

I have read your last several posts and they scare the hell out of me. Apparently, the TEA Parties "ain't gettin' it done". What, then, is Plan B for waking more people up and taking our dissatisfaction to the streets en masse to let Congress and the administration know that we have had enough?

I am posting this comment sent to me by Old Rose, a friend of mine. It was misposted on the Health care blog for today rather than here.

I will let you read the words for yourself.

Comrade-in-Arms, Fellow Military Aviator, Naval Commander Jerry Wilson,jerrywilson@centurytel.net said it better than I ever could.

Jerry writes:
Friends,

Please note the excellent piece of art (The Gathering Storm) that follows my ranting.

When the storm finally hits (and it will), those of you who supported the Obamaadministration will be affected as well. It won’t just be us gun owners or Flat Taxers, or Pro-Lifers that get hit. You’ll be right there next to us.

You see, you all thought the Conservatives were nut cases. You know, all of us who believe in God, small government, the Second Amendment, etc. And you thought you could just go back to sleep after the election was over. In your world, America will continue as before. You’ll still have the same rights, the same nice house, the same big screen television – it’s all good. After all, your high school football team won and the other team lost – go team! Even if you have bothered to look up from the daily grind since Nov 4th, you dismissed everything that has occurred as “politics as usual” – “the same old stuff”.

In the end, it’ll all be OK won’t it?

Not this time. There are a growing number of citizens in the US that are ready to fight to shut down the government’s grab of personal freedom, it’s blatant abuse of the constitution, and it’s attempt to replace the American way of life with socialism. You have to listen carefully to hear them, but they are there. I won’t start that fight, but when it goes down I will join it.

As for you, why… you’ll be shocked because you didn’t see it coming. And eventually you’ll be saddened when you see that we have truly lost the way of life with which you grew up. You’ll be saddened that your children and grandchildren live in a socialist, government-controlled gulag where their every movement from cradle to grave is tracked by the government. But most of all, you’ll be saddened by the death of friends and relatives who are brave enough to fight and die for something they believe in.

You know, McCain wasn’t much of a candidate. I’ll give you that. He was the lesser of two evils for most of us. I don’t blame you for not voting for him since, at the time, you didn’t know what we all know now. But at least John McCain was an American. He was a supporter of the American way of life and he understood that you can’t negotiate with terrorists. He understood and appreciated the sacrifice made by my father and other members of the Greatest Generation.

Mark my words friends. All across America groups are forming. They are forming out of anger and out of desperation at the thought of losing America . They’re not militia groups, terrorists as the Department of Homeland security would have you believe; they are Americans, loyal to the constitution. They are mothers and fathers and grandparents. They belong to groups like the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, the Peaceful Resistance, the Constitution Party, the Young Conservatives, the 9/12 Project, and Grassfire. Right now they are fragmented, each focused on their own cause. But sometime in the next two years, our government is going to do something really stupid and these groups will come together. Watch for it, wait for it…get ready. It will happen.

When that event happens, whatever “it” is, our great country is going to plunge into chaos for a while. I pray to God that we make it through that time and emerge a stronger, smarter country.

I have a great admiration for Commander Wilson, as he seems to foretell the future.

Thanks,

Old Rose

I feel exactly the same way.

Very turbulent days are ahead for America -- possibly as second American Revolution.

It's coming down to either revolt or be subjugated by big government.
