State Department to offer Palestinian Scholarships

When I read this headline I thought surely it is a mistake but then after thinking about the direction this administration has been going I was not surprised. I suppose one could call this more aide to the Global Economy. I have news for the Chief Occupier. The good people in this country are only going to take so much of this kind of radical direction and will soon go to the windows and hit the streets screaming, "I'M MAD AS HELL AND NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!"

It sounds like parody, but it's not: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last week announced a four-year program of US scholarships and "opportunity grants" for "disadvantaged young Palestinians" to attend universities. What next? Mortgage-refinancing seminars for Somali warlords? Universal health-care for at-risk children of homeless (caveless?) al Qaeda refugees?

America may have voted last November for diplomacy over war, but Team Obama's taking this outreach thing a bit far.

Clinton's scholarships come on the heels of her promise for a $900 million cash-bath for Gaza, that terrorist haven by the sea ruled by militant Hamas.

OK, not all Palestinians are terrorists. But Israel's demise is a lot higher on many Palestinians' priority lists than truth-based secular education.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The step to provide college grants to foreign students, in general, might be a good idea. Exposing America to impressionable youth might lead to increased ties when the return to their homelands, assuming that follows their college years. Unfortunately, that has not been the case when Arab students attend college in America. All too often they engage in political behavior on college campuses that has nothing to do with taking advantage of college scholarships to learn but has everything to do with getting a free subsidy to propagandize on campus. Sometimes these students choose to use their education to become college professors in Middle East Studies. They then further politicize the classrooms in colleges across America.

Shouldn't we focus on reaching them when they are younger-even opening up well-monitored schools in their neighborhoods, including grade schools?

How much money will America keep spending; I thought we had an educational funding crisis in our own schools.( Our schools don't count, only to increase the size of the Teacher's unions, which is ,of course, where the majority of education money went.)

Hattip: Ed Lasky, article from American Thinker

"The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our own money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the dispensation of the public moneys. ... The multiplication of public offices, increase of expense beyond income, growth and entailment of a public debt, are indications soliciting the employment of the pruning knife. ... We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. ... The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale. ... If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy. ... I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious." ... Thomas Jefferson

Not even on his worst day could Jefferson have imagined that Americans would fund the college education of terrorists, in order that they would be better prepared to kill us.

There is only one word to describe a liberal: stupid.

No, this has NOT been the case.
Heck, even IN America, we have integration of OUR OWN PEOPLE and the Whites are at THAT table in the cafeteria and the Blacks are at the OTHER table in the cafeteria, that's just a given, SADLY.

I am hoping for a class action lawsuit...all parents working hard to send American kids to college need to start one. WHY NOT!?

mustang you're right about tj - and it's important to remember he was the primary advocate of our FIRST wot against the muslims. he would indeed be turning over in his grave.

we're going to fund education of those not from the states, but nothing for those here. sheesh. class action lawsuit is probably not strong enough z.

every time federal funding goes up for ANY group at the college level, college tuitions go up as well. and conversely so do the salaries of the teachers and administrators of the nea.

neither the nea nor the teachers (at any age/grade) level are concerned with actual education. indoctrination to tow the commie line is all they are intent on.

One has to remember as well that illegals are already being funded which takes money out of American Parents pocketbooks that they won't have to fund their own children's education. Now we have to fund children of terrorist. A class action suit is not the answer but taking to the streets, cutting off donations to your alma mater if they allow one single of these folks to be enrolled. I have been generous to my both my colleges but I wrote today after receiving a letter asking for donations and told them that I am on a hold pattern to see if they allow such nonsense to occur before I send another dollar. I sent a copy of my blog and my letter to those who are in the higher echelon of giving asking them to do the same. Maybe this will work. I suggest you also do the same thing.
