Sunday Music Time

 Why me Lord: Kris Kristofferson

Kristofferson wrote the lyrics and the music to this song. It says a lot and perhaps can answer the question for some as to WHY ME LORD. We often ask this question in times of trouble but how often do we ask it in times of good. The Lord provides in the time of good and will lead in times of question and times of trouble.

In Jeremiah 1:5 God spoke to Jeremiah and said Before I formed you in the womb I knew your; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

Perhaps we were not ordained a prophet but God knew us before we were born, while we were still in the womb . He Continues in Jeremiah 29:11 and says: 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Note that the Lord says I know what I think of you, toward you, (even before you were born) and that they were thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you FUTURE AND HOPE! Is there any doubt or any reason to ask WHY ME LORD other than to give Him praise ?

In the New Testament (Mark 4: 35) there is a story of Jesus and His disciples when they started off across the "sea" and a storm arose. Jesus had said. "let's go to the other side". When the storm arose, as so often occurs in our life we become afraid and have doubts but Jesus said, "let's got to the other side" and they did. He will not take us to the middle of the lake/sea and let us sink when he has said "let's go to the other side" and that is what he constantly tells us. I am taking you to the other side. Have no fear. I knew you before your were born and had plans for you. So when we ask. "Why Me Lord" reflect on the verses of scripture provide for you.

I hope that this brings more meaning to the song of today.  What are your thoughts?

I have more in my life than I deserve, which makes me wonder why I have been so blessed. Why me, Lord?

@PJ. I believe it's because He loves you sooooo much. We, as parents, bless our children out of our tremendous love for them, not because they deserve it. Love is not deserved, earned, or bought. God's kind of love—agape love—is unconditional, and its fruit is so sweet that it's more than we can comprehend.

I LOVE this post, Ticker!
Why me? HE LOVES US so much....and it's a hard concept considering he knows our foibles better than we do!
You're right, it's all through the Scriptures: I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU.

it's a very nice feeling, isn't it! :-)
