Yep, It Get's Dumb and Dumber.

Dumb and dumber ways thought up to balance the budget and cut the deficit.

"The administration would have us believe that its enormous deficits are the new base line and that as long as we keep deficits at, say, $1 trillion, we are moving toward balancing the budget.

You don't make progress toward balancing the budget by deliberately jacking up federal discretionary spending to unprecedented levels and then locking in those unsustainable figures with a spending freeze.

You don't decrease deficits by first increasing them, and you can never make headway on reducing the national debt until you eliminate deficits altogether.

Uh, but Obama does!

Obama said America needs more passenger trains.Subsidized trains cost so much per commuter that it would be cheaper to buy them taxi rides.

But don't tell Obama and Biden that.

"Just like every family in America, the federal government has to do two things at once: It has to live within its means while still investing in the future. If your family [is] trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, you might put off a vacation, but you wouldn't want to sacrifice saving for your kids' college education or making key repairs in your house. So you cut back on what you can't afford to focus on what you can't do without, and that's what we've done with this year's budget." --Barack Obama

No comment necessary on that one! Make up your own.

What we're cutting here is not just waste, we have to actually cut some muscle. ... [Republicans] believe that we cannot afford these investments at this moment, and we believe we cannot afford not to invest at this moment." --Joe Biden using the trick word "investments" to describe outrageous federal spending

Cut your tongue out Joe and save us from your stupooid remarks.

"On Friday, House Republicans unveiled their proposal for immediate cuts in federal spending. Uncharacteristically, they failed to accompany the release with a catchy slogan. So I'd like to propose one: Eat the Future." --New York Times columnist Paul Krugman

And we know how much Krugman knows about anything.

"The House leadership is clearly out of touch with the American people, as they are continuing to focus on legislation that takes away health care women currently have instead of focusing on jobs and the economy." --Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richard

But then Cecile doesn't care about balancing the budget as long as her organization can be pimps for teenage "Ho's  and operate Murder INC on the taxpayer's dime.

Well put Z, and yes the silence is deafening except for the governors who are refusing the funds. The fools in Congress are hiding under their desk waiting to see which way the wind blows.

And we know how much Krugman knows about anything.

Even so, his textbook for economics is used at a lot of community colleges. **sigh**

What is it with Obama and passenger trains?

I'm no Randian, but I do have to make a sort of connection with Obama's idiocy and certain aspects of Atlas Shrugged, threads that show that government regulation and government ventures into private enterprise are losing propositions.

They should definitely upgrade the Northeast Corridor to true high speed rail, Acela ain't bad but it could be a lot faster and it could be extended.

The corridor operates at a profit and could help fund expansion of rail in other high traffic corridors.

There is good news. The Republicans in several states are refusing money for the high speed trains and they are now planning to get rid of the czars. Oh please, please, get rid of the czars. There is nothing that allows the president to create these position, that have more power than the cabinet heads.

Yea AOW Krugman's book is used to teach socialist economics. What else could it be used for.

Good for the NE Corridor Duck. Now let private enterprise pay for it since it is making a profit. I don't ride it and shouldn't have to pay for those who do.

Ticker maybe you missed it.

The corridor is operating at a profit. You ain't paying for anything.

I take it regularly down to NYC and anyone who would chose the hassle of flying over a comfortable (and cheaper) train is insane.

Plus you get of in downtown Manhattan rather than a long cab ride from the airport.

There are a number of natural transportation corridors in the nation that would do well with high speed rail.

Oh and I'm sure you are aware Tocker that the gloried south takes in more in federal expenditures than it pays in taxes. I subsidize you, so you should really study up.

Do right wingers ever think?

Duck, if it is doing so damn well then let them , as I said build their own railway. No asshole you don't support me. I spent 34 damn years insuring that idiots like you could exist. I oft times regret it when it come to you and your ilk. Now get the hell out of my house. Have I made that clear?????
