WE THE PEOPLE...--A Special Post

A good cyber friend of mine, Mazzei, and I were discussing recent events, Occupy Wall Street and the Sylondra fiasco and how special interest groups always seem to get the attention and the spotlight. During our discussion I shared with him a blog post entitled What America Needs, which is indeed as much timely as it was when the words of the blog were written. My friend Mazzei, a former British subject and now a proud American citizen wrote this:

"We hear much of special interest groups. Well, our concern must be for a special interest group that has been too long neglected. It knows no sectional boundaries or ethnic and racial divisions, and it crosses political party lines. It is made up of men and women who raise our food, patrol our streets, man our mines and factories, teach our children, keep our homes, and heal us when we're sick--professionals, industrialists, shopkeepers, clerks, cabbies, and truck drivers. They are, in short, "we the people," this breed called Americans."

"We are a nation that has a government--not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our government has no power except that granted it by the people."
 "This as you know is from your blog. Words of wisdom from a wise man."

His words gave me cause and inspriation to sit down and write this in reply and today I post it as a special blog post. I do hope that you will take time to read What America Needs but also this piece which I  have entitled...


                                        WE THE PEOPLE
                                  This Breed Called Americans.


Those in power of governing have forgotten that ""we the people" are the government.

They have usurped the power of the people to grown and maintain that power which they are none to eager to relinquish.

They have usurped the power by leading us to believe that what they do is for "our own good" . They have slowly and surely eroded the power of "we the people". They declare that such things are necessities if we are to be free and prosperous. Our founding fathers would not agree:
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783

The powers have laid upon us a burden of regulation and debt for which they claim is for the good of all, but yet no one prospers by their deeds. Again they have usurped the power of "we the people" and we have but remained silent for the most part against this travesty.

This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." Thomas Jefferson

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live.. We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers. Our landholders, too...retaining indeed the title and stewardship of estates called theirs, but held really in trust for the treasury, must...be contented with penury, obscurity and exile.. private fortunes are destroyed by public as well as by private extravagance.

We have allowed those in power to usurp our rights to be free men and women by the continual destruction of our Constitution. They have discharged morality and replaced it with humanism often called political correctness.

Too many of the powers see the Constitution as a document which has outlived it's time and therefore go to any lengths to change the enumerated powers as set forth in that timeless document. It has become a weapon against the very peoples for which it was intended rather than a tool of the people to keep in check those who would take away that power given in that document called the Consitution which was paid for by the sacrifice , blood and lives of those who came before us. Our founders would be alarmed and shocked.



The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." Patrick Henry

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. ( John Adams, letter to Abigail Adams, July 17, 1775)



We have failed to educate our children with the knowledge of what is means to be a free and just society. We have allowed the power to educate to be usurped by those in power. In doing so we have relinquished our own rights to be free and justice has fled the land
John Adams put it this way:

Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom. John Adams

We have through fear, fraud and error allowed those of power to place us in shackles just as surely as if we were slaves. And indeed too many have in the name of protection from the powerful have through their own ignorance relinquished their rights as free men and women.

If men through fear, fraud or mistake, should in terms renounce and give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave.

Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it. John Adams

Until we can once again understand the words of Adams written above then "we the people" will remain in slavery to those who have been allowed to steal (usurp) our power

We would be wise to listen to another man who knew much of slavery and said:

We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." Abraham Lincoln

If we fail in such then the fate as put forth in the words of James Madison will be ours and we shall have no one to blame other than ourselves, "we the people".

"Democracies have been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death." James Madison

With deep appreciation to my friend Mazzei a good "mate" indeed for providing the inspiration to write this piece.  If only a few things which I have written are remembered, I hope that this will be the one which stands out in peoples mind long after I am gone from this earth.

Sue, you missed the whole point.Try reading Mazzei's comments before going off an some kind of a tangent about John Adams and being disappointed. Then tell me it's not about We The People. The liberalism in your brain is causing blindness evidently.

The Ticker I once liked - and respected - is being sucked up into the unreality of all this political mess.

I think you are a good person, Ticker - but I'm just not on your side, and we are definitely choosing up sides in America the Beautiful these days.

Sue, so be it since it seems you have absolutely no reading comprehension. This entire post had nothing to do with one side or the other it was about this country and what it has become by parleying to special interest groups by both sides in the political world.
Our Founding Fathers warned us of such but it appears no one listened. So I write again this warning and YOU seem to think it is an attack against you and your ideology. BS. But then you are blind or you would have seen it for what it is, not what you imagine it to be. You need to see a good shrink.

I appreciate it BB. Just as I have attempted to point out things such as this in the past it seems that few listen. People need to wake up and listen! Or is it perhaps that they fear the truth?

No, Just not wasting time nor space on this blog for comments having nothing to do with the subject just as my policy statement says.
